Hi, I’m Christie and welcome to my little corner of the internet!

I grew up in a small coastal suburb of Boston, but have always been fascinated by travel and life in other countries. I feel like this stems back to my childhood love of Mary Kate and Ashley movies, Harry Potter, The Parent Trap, and other millennial staples. As a kid, I was fortunate to spend my summers in Prince Edward Island, Canada and take several trips around the US with my family.

A high school trip to Italy when I was 16 and then a semester abroad in Lyon, France cemented my obsession for travel and experiencing other cultures!

I first started this travel blog in 2015 while I was living in New York City. Over the next few years, I embarked on some of the greatest adventures of my life and documented a lot of it on here… First, I moved across the world to Melbourne, Australia on a Working Holiday Visa. I had adventures all over Australia (including a monthlong roadtrip through the Outback) and a few trips over to Asia. Once that visa ended, I wasn’t ready to leave that part of the world yet, so I moved across the Tasman Sea to Wellington, New Zealand on another Working Holiday.

After a few months back in the US, I took a trip over to London to visit a friend, and that’s when I met my now-husband. We clicked instantly, and within a few months of meeting each other, I was applying for Master’s programs in London, so I could move there. I fell in love with London life instantly, and this is also when I made the switch to being vegan. Anyone who was in London around 2018-19 can confirm how amazing that era was for new and exciting vegan options!

My student visa ended just before the pandemic began, and thus began a long stretch of long-distance with my then-boyfriend-now-husband. This is also when I began getting a lot of freelance writing work and when I stopped posting on Girl Sees the World. One of my main copywriting clients was a travel company, so I figured why write articles about travel for free when I can just write for this company and get paid for it? (At that point, I had made somewhere around $200 in the 5 years since I had started my blog, so it was hardly a sustainable income!)

Once travel restrictions lifted, I was able to make it over to the UK a couple times, took some trips within the US, and even did a three-month stint living in Chicago.

In March 2023, I finally moved back to England — this time on a spouse visa! Since then, we have been living on the outskirts of London, and I’ve been soaking up every moment being back in one of my favourite cities in the world. And that leads to 2026 when I finally decided to revive this blog that has been neglected for far too long!

So, what kind of content can you expect from Girl Sees the World?

Anything and everything related to travel! Especially travel within the UK, Europe, and North America, but a bit of Australia, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East sprinkled in there too!

I’ve also been vegan since 2018 and in that time, I’ve gotten pretty good at finding the best vegan options any time I’ve visiting a new city. There will be plenty of vegan guides and spotlights on some of the amazing vegan spots I come across in London, around the UK, and anywhere else I travel to.

As someone who has lived in five different countries, I’ve also become a bit of an expert on packing up and moving your life to a new country. So you can expect plenty of tips and stories about life abroad.

Thanks so much for being here, and I can’t wait to share all of my adventures with you!
